Zed commends Academy for electing 1st African-American President

Distinguished religious statesman Rajan Zed has commended The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for electing its first African-American President, Cheryl Boone Isaacs.

 

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, called it "a step in the right direction", although long overdue.

 

Rajan Zed pointed out that Academy, founded in 1927, appeared to have finally matured with this historic election.

 

Beverly Hills (California, USA) headquartered Academy, dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of motion pictures, is the world's preeminent movie-related organization and is best known for its annual Oscar telecast. Dawn Hudson is CEO.
