City of Sanger in California has become the sixth city in USA to declare October 25 as "Rajan Zed Day".

Cities of Hartford (Connecticut), Taylorsville (Utah), Madera (California), Sparks (Nevada) and Chowchilla (California) have already declared October 25 as "Rajan Zed Day". City of Reno (Nevada) has also proclaimed a day in Zed's recognition twice in the past.

Zed is a distinguished global Hindu and interfaith statesman, who besides taking up the cause of religion worldwide, has also raised huge voice against the apartheid faced by about 15-million Roma (Gypsies) in Europe.
Sanger Mayor Joshua D. Mitchell, in a signed and sealed proclamation, mentioned Zed's "initiatives to bring various religious communities together throughout the world so that they can live in peace and mutual trust and enrich themselves through dialogue."

Proclamation acknowledged: "Rajan Zed is a religious statesman who has taken up interfaith, Hinduism, religion, environment, Roma and other causes all over the world".

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, delivered on July five the first historic Hindu invocation of Sanger City Council in its 101 years of incorporated existence. After sprinkling few drops of water from holy river Ganga of India, he recited from Rig-Veda, the oldest scripture of the world still in common use, besides lines from Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord), both ancient Hindu scriptures.

October 25 is Rajan Zed's birthday.

Bestowed with World Interfaith Leader Award; Zed is Senior Fellow and Religious Advisor to Foundation for Religious Diplomacy, Spiritual Advisor to National Association of Interchurch & Interfaith Families, etc.

"Nation's Christmas Tree City" Sanger was founded in 1888. Eli Ontiveros and Brian Haddix are Mayor Pro Tem and City Manager respectively. Prominent people associated with Sanger include artist Manuel Neri, inventor Francis Rogallo and footballers Tom Flores and Jim Merlo.
